“Omoiyari”とは、他者に共感し、思いやり、行動すること。この秋、アメリカのインディー・フォーク界のマルチ・インストゥルメンタリストであり、シンガーソングライターであるKishi Bashiは、近日公開予定のドキュメンタリー歌映画の関連アルバム『Music from the Song Film: Omoiyari』をリリースする予定です。1941年の真珠湾攻撃後、12万人の日系アメリカ人が強制収容された事件についてのK自身の6年にわたる発見の旅に焦点を当てたこの映画は、社会正義のドキュメンタリーであり、歌と映画の実験でもあります。このアルバムには、ドキュメンタリーに登場するKのライブ即興演奏が収録されており、その多くは強制収容所の跡地で録音されたもの。アーティストの個人的アイデンティティの変容について、また日系アメリカ人の経験や強制収容所についての幅広い調査として書かれた「Music from the Song Film: Omoiyari」の中で描かれる共感と思いやりの教訓を喚起する音楽的伴奏として、また現代インディー界で最も才能あるミュージシャンの一人のプロセスとパワーを浮き彫りにする作品。
