2018年にロサンゼルスのハリウッド・パラディアムで録音された「Sunset 666」は、The Jesus And Mary Chainの新しいライヴ・アルバムで、2023年8月4日にFuzz Clubからリリースされた。1990年、正確な種類のノイズとダークネスに満ちたアメリカの若いバンドが、ノイズとダークネス、冷静さとカタルシスを持つグループのアメリカ・ツアーに特別ゲストとして参加した。その若いバンドとは Nine Inch Nails。それから約30年後、招待状が届いた。リード兄弟が役割を逆にして、Nine Inch Nailsの北米ツアーの前座を務めてくれないだろうか？トレント・レズナーはメリー・チェインのファンで、「Psychocandy」を聴いて以来彼らに影響を受けていた。
その結果、ツアーはLAのハリウッド・パラディアムでの6公演で幕を閉じ、2枚組アルバム「Sunset 666」に収録された17曲は、そのうちの2晩のデスクで録音されたものだ。サイドA、B、Cは最終公演の12月15日のもの。この12曲はその夜のフルセットで、順番に演奏された。つまり、ショーは「Just Like Honey」のヒア・ウィ・ファック・ゴー・ドラムで始まり、8分半の「Reverence」の猛烈な幸福感で終わったのだ。レコードのD面は12月11日のライヴから収録されており、「Blues From A Gun」、「Between Planets」、「Halfway To Crazy」のヴァージョンをフィーチャーしたアルバム『Automatic』のミニ・ショーケース的な役割を果たしている。
